The tradition of the Three Kings Ride in Scheibbs goes back to the 3 brothers who started it in 1947: Alois, August and Hans Krenn. Today, in the late afternoon on the 6th of January, it is their sons Alois, Andreas and Klemens Krenn who start the annual ride at 5 pm from the monastery church to the city parish church. Dressed as the three holy kings Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar, they are accompanied by three bearers offering gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh, two horn blowers, six individuals leading the horses and a star carrier. One can not forget the ten to twenty children dressed as shepherds with lanterns, mainly members of the Krenn extended family, but other children from Scheibbs are also invited to participate. |
