Regional policy workshops ongoing

At the moment, regional policy workshops are held in the project regions. Especially mayors and regional stakeholders are discussing about the joint “Cultural Resources Strategy” in order to enable and facilitate its long-term implementation in the project regions and beyond.

Case studies for the Cultural Resources Strategy finished

The Cultural Resources Strategy does not only offer theoretical knowledge about how to valorise and capitalise intangible cultural heritage, but also shows practical experiences gained within the pilot actions. They will be made available in “case studies” within the Cultural Resources Strategy. Thus, also other people from outside the project can profit from the experiences made within the project “Cultural Capital Counts”.

Pilot actions ongoing

Whereas the CCC-pilot trainings and workshops are finished, the pilot actions have started and are still going on. In these pilot actions, specific ideas for the capitalisation of intangible cultural heritage are developed further in the project regions. Several new products and services based on regional elements of the intangible are planned in the project regions.

Transnational workshop in Krosno, Poland

During the meeting of the management group and the steering committee in Krosno, Poland, a workshop on the “Cultural Resources Strategy” was held. The project partners exchanged first drafts of the different chapters and discussed intensely in order to reinforce the common understanding of the strategy.

First training material available

The first training material for the valorisation and capitalisation of intangible cultural heritage, which was used by the project partners in pilot trainings and workshops, is available for anybody interested in this topic. It can be downloaded in the section “project results” of the website. Meanwhile, further pilot trainings and workshops are held in the project regions.

Transnational workshop in Verona, Italy

During the meeting of the management group and the steering committee in Verona, Italy, a workshop on the lessons learned in the pilot trainings was held. Together, the project partners exchanged their experiences in order to find out strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of pilot trainings and workshops addressed to both the private and public sector.

Manual “Transnational tools to valorize the Resource ‘Regional Culture’” is finished and printed

The manual is one of the major outputs of the CCC-project and addresses, amongst others, local politicians and stakeholders. It presents the five steps of the so called CCC-method developed within the project. The manual can be downloaded in the section „project results“ of the website.

Pilot trainings started

In the last weeks and months, trainings and workshops concerning the valorisation and capitalisation of intangible cultural heritage have been started. In these trainings, the participants are enabled to develop new products and services based on the special intangible heritage of the project’s regions.

The fourth CCC-newsletter is available and was sent to several thousand people in Central Europe. It contains interesting aspects of intangible cultural heritage of the project partner’s regions that can or will be valorised by in the next months and years. Meeting of the management group/steering committee in Domzale, Slovenia

The meeting in Domzale from 11th – 12th March turned out to be crucial for discussing the implementation of the next project steps and for getting a clear idea of their content and goals. Besides, the project partners discussed about the online-database and its maintenance beyond the project and also presented the final versions and dissemination approaches of the brochures „Our cultural wealth“.

“Manual on Identifying Intangible Cultural Resources” is finished

The manual is one of the major outputs of the CCC-project and addresses, amongst others, local politicians and stakeholders. It provides applicable know-how answering the question „How can intangible cultural heritage be identified?“. The manual can be downloaded in the section „project results“ of the website.

Data records finished

After the brochures, also the data records that show the rich intangible cultural heritage of the project partner’s regions are finished and available in the section “intangible cultural heritage” of the website. They make possible to compare the different key areas of intangible cultural heritage of the nine participating regions and give good impressions of the regions’ “souls”.

Meeting of the management group/steering committee in Oszko, Hungary

From 4th – 5th October, the next meeting of the management group and steering committee was held. Main focus of the meeting was the discussion about the draft of the manual “Transnational Tools to Valorise the Resource “Regional Culture”. Intense discussions and active participation of all project partners improved the common understanding of intangible cultural heritage and its valorisation.

Brochures “Our cultural wealth” finished

9 brochures that give a good overview of the intangible cultural wealth of the project partner’s regions are available – each having its own charm and its own approach to presenting “the intangible”. Some are including as many elements as possible in order to provide a deep characteristic of the region while others are concentrating on “hidden treasures” of the region etc. Have a look for yourself! Successful transnational fair in Steirisches Vulkanland

At the transnational fair in Steirisches Vulkanland from 14th to 15th July 2012, around 7.000 visitors got an impression of the rich intangible heritage of Central Europe. All participating CCC-partners as well as partners of previous projects had many interested visitors at their stands. Thus, the fair substantially increased the awareness of ICH and enabled contacts between various actors in intangible heritage.

Third CCC-newsletter

The third CCC-newsletter is available and was sent to several thousand people in Central Europe. It gives the readers an idea of the rich intangible cultural heritage of the project partner’s regions that will be presented at the “transnational fair” from 14th – 15th July 2012 in Steirisches Vulkanland. Transnational fair in preparation!

From 14th to 15th July 2012 the project partners will organise an “international fair” which will be combined with the “Schinkenfest” in Steirisches Vulkanland, Austria. All the regions will present their outstanding intangible cultural heritage like forging in the region “Kulturpark Eisenstraße” or thatching in the region “Vasi Hegyhát”. For a more detailed information have a look at the folder which lists all participating initiatives (starting with page 15). If the weather is fine, up to 5000 visitors are expected!

Transnational workshop

During the meeting of the management group and the steering committee in Bovec, Slovenia, a workshop on methods and tools concerning the capitalisation and valorisation of the intangible cultural heritage was held. Together, the project partners analysed different (already existing) methods and tools and developed them further by combining and expanding them.

First brochures finished!

In the last months, the project partners have been working intensively on their brochures that reflect the great variety of intangible cultural heritage in the project regions. As every project partner produces his own brochure it is even more interesting to go through the brochures and get to know the different spirits of the different regions. Here you can have a look at the brochure of the Development Centre Litija as well as on the brochure of the Sub-Carpathian Chamber of Commerce.

Preparation of CCC-brochures in progress!

In the last weeks and months the project partners have evaluated the different aspects of intangible cultural heritage of their regions mentioned within the interviews. At the moment, the identified ICH is summarized and will be made visible in brochures with the title “Our cultural wealth”. Each project partner produces its own brochure according to the needs and the character of the region. The common CCC-logo will be part of every brochure and make visible that they are realized within the project Cultural Capital Counts.

Meeting of the management group/steering committee in Asti

From 24th to 25th November 2011, the project partners of Cultural Capital Counts met in Asti, Italy. Important details concerning the first progress report were given. Also, the internal knowledge management system (http://blog.culturalcapitalcounts.eu) was presented by the Lead partner, who was responsible for its implementation. Since that time the internal communication within the project has been organised primarily via the internal KMS and not via e-mail any more. Furthermore, PP2 presented a first draft for the external knowledge management system that will be available by the end of February for entering the data concerning the intangible cultural heritage. Also, an interesting discussion on the experiences made so far within WP3 took place. Last but not least, an outlook over WP 4 was made.

Interviews and expert’s visits finished!

By the end of October all the project partners have finished their interviews concerning the identification of their intangible cultural heritage. More than 65 interviews with different methodical approaches have been made in the nine participating regions leading to various results and different elements of the intangible cultural heritage of Central Europe. Also the 9 mutual expert’s visits between the regions have been an important element for the identification of the intangible cultural heritage giving an external perspective to the “obvious” the regions are not always aware of.

Official CCC-logo

Since the end of September „Cultural Capital Counts“ has an official logo that was agreed on during the kick-off-meeting in Steirisches Vulkanland. The logo represents a circle that consists of three parts. They symbolise the three “Cs” of Cultural Capital Counts. The logo is also a symbol for the different regions that focus together on one common “centre”, the intangible cultural heritage.

Kick-off-meeting

The Kick-off meeting was held on September 15./16. in Steirisches Vulkanland. In intensive discussions the partners came closer to a common understanding of the intangible cultural heritage and many useful inputs on its identification were collected. On the second day of the meeting, the start of CCC was officially celebrated with a public conference on the intangible cultural heritage, gathering various points of view on the issue. The conference could attract around 50 people and initiate several publications in local and national media.

Start-up meeting “Cultural Capital Counts”

During the start-up meeting of Cultural Capital Counts, which took place on 16th and 17th June 2011 in Waidhofen an der Ybbs (Austria), all the project partners got to know each other. Apart from getting an overview on different aspects of the project (project structure, project goals, financial issues, publicity obligations, upcoming activities,...) the project members got an insight in the cultural wealth of project partner 2: The local excursion to Ybbsitz consisted of visiting a forging demonstration as well as the museum “Ferrum – the world of iron”.

Project start of CCC

On 1st May 2011 Cultural Capital Counts started officially. In the next 36 months 10 partners from 6 different countries (Steirisches Vulkanland – AUT, Kulturpark Eisenstraße –AUT, Verona Innovazione (ITA), Lamoro development agency (ITA), Development centre Litija – SLO, Local tourist organisation Bovec – SLO, Winehill Sheperd Association – HUN, Sub-Carpathian Chamber of Commerce – POL, b&s unternehmungsberatung – GER and Brandenburg University of Technology – GER) work closely together on behalf of their regional intangible cultural heritage!
