One of the surviving cultural traditions of the Vasi Hegyhát region is dramatics. The roots reach back to the preceptors who called to life theatrical groups in the settlements Csipkerek, Csehimindszent, Győrvár, Vasvár and some others nearly a century ago.
A real curiosity of ther region is the “Golghelogi” in Nagymákfa, which means something like “everything that is connected to theatricals, everything that is timeless”.

One of the surviving cultural traditions of the Vasi Hegyhát region is dramatics. The roots reach back to the preceptors who called to life theatrical groups in the settlements Csipkerek, Csehimindszent, Győrvár, Vasvár and some others nearly a century ago.
Later from these roots blossomed groups from schools, communities calling for not only for the young generation, but for the older ones, too. Starting just with the Pöttyös Group, the Vasvár Theatre Association, the Rozmaring Theatre Group Oszkó, just to mention some of them.

A real curiosity of Hegyhát is the “Golghelogi” in Nagymákfa, which means “everything that is connected to theatricals, everything that is timeless”. The Golghelogi, named after Győző Határ's drama, was launched 10 years ago by the Cultural House Vasvár. The event took place at the Holy Well on the day of equinox. Theatrical productions, concerts, dance acts came after each other sometimes randomly, sometimes in an organised way to the local open-stage. Then the Golghelogi moved to the settlement Nagymákfa, located next to Vasvár. Today it is the event of the local houses. The small village's citizens give accommodation for the visitors, and they are also the ones that plan and direct the programs. And these programs are quite colourful: nostalgic, traditional, and popular science presentations as well as theatrical and musical performances, sport, dance house and exhibitions. As the directors say: The most important during the event is that people take care of each other better than they used to, they are having conversations and share ideas.

Summer Theatre Nights
However it was a tradition of Hegyhát that every summer there were theatrical acts held on the Holy Well's open stage, now it is, temporarily, interrupted. Before that, it had been the place for summer presentations and live-acts for decades. It is planned by the leaders of Vasvár to renew this tradition in the magnificent environment of the Holy Well's forest.

Gáspár Nagy's Cultural Heritage
The connection of Hegyhát's spiritual values and Gáspár Nagy's heritage are getting stronger year by year. The poet's cultural heritage has to be protected and promoted.
The poet, who was awarded with Hungary's most prestigious award, the Kossuth-prize was born in the region, in the settlement of Bérbaltavár in 1949 and spent his childhood in Nagytilaj, next to the village he was born. His final wish was to be buried in Nagytilaj, however he lived in Budakeszi, near Budapest, with his family. His connection to the Vasi Hegyhát region had been always strong, and now the region wants to show its linkage to the poet’s spiritual heritage.
Vasvár's fully renewed Cultural House bears his name, it is called Gáspár Nagy Cultural Centre. During the last few years, several poem-reciting events were held with many visitors coming from all over the country. They were held firstly in Bérbaltavár and Nagytilaj, and later in 2012 in Vasvár for the 5th time. The cult of Gáspár Nagy has been developed systematically cultural agents and the locals would like that everybody in the Vasi Hegyhát region would know about the heritage of this great poet which would strengthen the local sense of identity.
In 2012 the Gáspár Nagy Memorial Day was held in Vasvár for the first time. There were football matches due to the poet's favourite sport, then a memorial meeting was held where the poet's works where analyzed by Kossuth-award winning litterateurs and members of the National Scientific Academy. Furthermore, there are also walking tours for the memory of Gáspár Nagy since 2010 of 20 and 50 km distance.
